The Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Music at Dakota Wesleyan University will sponsor a mini-tour of the Mitchell region, playing at area high schools.  The Wesleyan Band will perform in four area communities Nov. 3-4.

Stops on the tour include McCook Central School in Salem and Hanson School in Alexandria on Thursday, Nov. 3, and Wessington Springs School and T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre on Friday, Nov. 4.  In addition to playing, the Wesleyan band members will work with the school bands, helping students to refine their playing skills.  They will also offer constructive critiques of the schools’ performances.

The Wesleyan Band is directed by Dr. Bethany Amundson, Director of Bands and Director of Instrumental Studies at DWU.  Amundson is also past president of the South Dakota Music Education Association.

The Dakota Wesleyan Choir and the Wesleyan Bells will embark on their Christmas mini-tour Dec. 10-11.  Communities where they will perform include Pierre and Huron.
