South Dakota women’s basketball head coach Carrie Eighmey announced on Apr. 20 the signing of senior transfer Latazia Williamson from Kennesaw State for the 2026-27 season.
The addition of Williamson brings experience and defensive strength to the Coyotes as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Williamson comes to South Dakota after a notable junior year at Kennesaw State, where she averaged 8.8 points and 5.5 rebounds over 29 games. She shot 46 percent from the field and contributed defensively with 37 blocks and 26 steals during the season.
“Latazia will make our team better on both ends of the floor!” Eighmey said. “She has great length and athleticism and plays with a high motor! She’s a rim running, rebounding athlete with the ability to score around the rim in different ways. We are looking forward to her becoming a Yote!”
Throughout her collegiate career at Memphis and Kennesaw State, Williamson has played in 62 games, averaging five points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Last season marked her first full year as a starter, where she achieved several personal milestones including twelve double-digit scoring games, three performances with twenty or more points, and a career-high twenty-one points against Jacksonville State in the regular season finale. She also recorded her first career double-double against Western Kentucky.
