South Dakota women’s basketball head coach Carrie Eighmey announced on April 14 that Gabby Jackson, a transfer from North Alabama, will join the Coyotes.
Jackson played one season at North Alabama, where she started in 19 out of 31 games as a freshman. The 6-foot-1 forward led her team in rebounding with an average of 6.8 per game and scored an average of 7.7 points per game.
“Gabby is a great addition to our program! She played valuable minutes in her freshman season and we are excited about her potential moving forward,” Eighmey said. “She has the ability to impact both ends of the floor with her length, athleticism, and versatility. She has a great feel for the game, is a skilled passer, and has the ability to score both in the paint and on the perimeter.”
Jackson comes from Shawnee, Kansas, where she attended Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. During her time at North Alabama this season, she was selected to the ASUN all-Freshman Team and ranked ninth overall in rebounding within the conference while leading all freshmen in that category. She was also named ASUN Freshman of the Week twice during January.
In high school, Jackson scored over 1,000 points and collected more than 500 rebounds during her career at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. She also participated in volleyball and track.
The addition of Jackson is expected to strengthen South Dakota’s roster for upcoming seasons as they continue preparations under Eighmey’s leadership.
