The City of Mitchell received the following applications for a special event, Corn Palace Shrine Circus, Mitchell Main Street & Beyond: 1st Fridays on Main, Memorial Weekend in Mitchell, Oktoberfest, and Parade of Lights. The applications will be considered at the March 6th City Council Meeting. The applications can be viewed on the March 6th City Council Agenda at: https://mitchellsd.portal.civicclerk.com/event/1033/files.

The Special Event Permit Applications below request the following for approval.

Corn Palace Shrine Circus (Sunday, April 23rd through Thursday, April 27th, 2023):

  • Road Closure 
  • Parking Lot Closure
  • Additionally, the application is requesting a parking lot sweep following the event.

MMS&B: 1st Fridays on Main (May 5th, June 2nd, July 7th, Thursday, August 3rd – Partnering with Palace City Pre-Sturgis, and September 1st)

  • Road Closure
  • Parking Lot Closure
  • Noise Permit
  • Special Event Liquor License ($500)
  • Consumption Permit ($500)
  • MMS&B is requesting a one-time, Special Event Permit fee of $500 for all MMS&B events during 2023.

MMS&B: Memorial Weekend in Mitchell (Saturday, May 27th, 2023)

  • Road Closure
  • Parking Lot Closure
  • Noise Permit
  • Special Event Liquor License ($500)
  • Consumption Permit ($500)
  • MMS&B is requesting a one-time, Special Event Permit fee of $500 for all MMS&B events during 2023.

MMS&B: Oktoberfest (Saturday, September 30th, 2023)

  • Road Closure
  • Parking Lot Closure
  • Noise Permit
  • Special Event Liquor License ($500)
  • Consumption Permit ($500)
  • MMS&B is requesting a one-time, Special Event Permit fee of $500 for all MMS&B events during 2023.

MMS&B: Parade of Lights (Tuesday, November 28th, 2023)

  • Road Closure 
  • Parking Lot Closure
  • Parade Permit – with escort & closure ($250)
  • Parade Permit ($50)
  • Noise Permit
  • Additionally, the application is requesting that the street lights on Main Street be turned off at 7:00 PM and turned back on following the parade.
  • MMS&B is requesting a one-time, Special Event Permit fee of $500 for all MMS&B events during 2023.
