86 percent of applicants to the University of South Dakota were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of South Dakota, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 63 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Vermillion enrolled 10,066 students in fall 2018, including 7,590 in undergraduate and 2,476 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

61 percent of undergraduates are residents of South Dakota, and 37 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (83 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (4 percent).

The school admitted 86 percent of the 4,119 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 41 percent enrolled.
