Cost of college went up for all students at the Mitchell Technical Institute

Tuition and fees rose 1.9 percent for 2018-19 at the Mitchell Technical Institute, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Dakota students paid $6,720 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $128 more than the $6,592 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 89 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 216 students received grants or scholarships totaling $930,602 and 253 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (1,198), 632 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4 million, and 601 students took out $3.6 million in federal student loans.
