Of the 618 people living in Irene in 2019, 57.6 percent (356) were women and 42.4 percent (262) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Southeast South Dakota News.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by a ratio of 166-to-150. In the 65 and over age range, there were 84 females and 32 males.
