The City of Vermillion has four vacancies, due to term expiration on the Planning & Zoning Commission. The terms of appointment expire in June 2027. To be eligible, an individual must be a resident of Vermillion. If interested, please complete an Expression of Interest form available on the City’s website. Completed Expression of Interest forms are due in the City Manager’s office by Noon on Thursday, June 30, 2022. It is anticipated that the City Council will make an appointment at their July 5, 2022 meeting.
The Planning & Zoning Commission is responsible for the Comprehensive Plan (PDF) and the physical development of the City, including areas outside the boundaries of the City and within the joint jurisdictional area. The Planning & Zoning Commission reviews and comments on all plans, plats, or re-plats of subdivisions or re-subdivisions of land embraced in the City and platting jurisdiction area, laid out in lots or plats with the streets, alleys, or other portions of the same intended to be dedicated to the public. In addition, the Planning & Zoning Commission accepts and makes decisions on all conditional uses identified in the City’s Zoning Ordinance. Members of the Planning & Zoning Commission are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council.
