NOTICE OF HEARING - Application for Variance

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the Vermillion City Council on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 25 Center Street, Vermillion, South Dakota to consider an application submitted by Mr. Russell E. Jensen for a variance that would reduce the required off-street parking required for the operation of a kennel from 44-parking spots to 18-parking spots.  The property being affected by the variance address is 1322 E Cherry Street, and is legally described as follows:

Lot B & Lot E-7 SE ¼ SW ¼ NE ¼ 18-92-51; and, Exc Lots 5 & 6, Brooks Industrial Park Addition, City of Vermillion, Clay County, South Dakota

Pursuant to the City of Vermillion Zoning Regulations, a public hearing shall be held to decide upon petitions for variances to vary the strict application of the requirements in the Zoning Regulations as will not be contrary to the public interest.

The applicant will appear at this hearing to provide the Vermillion City Council all the information required to consider variance that would allow for the reduction of the required off-street parking for the operation of a kennel from 44-parking spots to 18-parking spots on 1322 E Cherry Street.  A copy of the application, including relevant maps and drawings, and information concerning the hearing process is available for review by the public at City Hall, 25 Center Street, Vermillion, SD 57069 prior to the hearing.

All interested persons are invited to attend and offer their comments.  Those interested persons not able to attend are invited and encouraged to send written comments, prior to the hearing, to:
