DWU announces winners from Fall Scholarship Day

MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University has announced fall scholarship winners from high school senior classes.

28 high school seniors competed last month for the university’s most prestigious scholarships as part of DWU’s Fall Scholarship Day on Nov. 18. Students with outstanding academic status, leadership potential and commitment to serving others were invited to campus to meet with faculty, staff and students, or virtually, while exploring opportunities at DWU.

The following is a list of Randall Scholarship and Presidential Leadership winners, DWU’s most competitive scholarships:

Randall Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Randall Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications.

Lexi Burma, Iroquois, Iroquois High School, daughter of Wade and Jodi Burma

Morgan Gill, Colome., Colome High School, daughter of Brent and Charli Gill

Madison Oedekoven, Pierre, T.F. Riggs High School, daughter of Jenn and Dusty Oedekoven

Bella Schroeder, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, daughter of John and Renee Schroeder

Landree Wilson, Brookings, Sioux Valley High School, daughter of Casey Wilson and Kara Dahl

Presidential Leadership Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Presidential Leadership Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.25 GPA and must meet certain leadership/service qualifications.

Arik Burnett, LeMars, Iowa, LeMars Community High School, son of Theresa Kinney and Rusty Burnett

Jonathan Lyons, Pierre, T.F. Riggs High School, son of Stephanie Lyons and Shawn Lyons

Connor Martinez, Columbus, Neb., Columbus High School, son of Beth and Tedd Martinez

Gracey Sheridan, Brookings, Brookings High School, daughter of Mike and Sam Sheridan

DWU also awarded John Wesley, Trustee and Presidential Scholarships:

John Wesley Scholarship winners: To qualify for a John Wesley Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA.

Peyton Abraham, Garretson, Garretson High School, son of Scott and Heather Abraham

Kamryn Boettcher, Ipswich, Ipswich Public High School, daughter of Brian and Lori Boettcher, also awarded a performing arts scholarship

Benjamin Daggett, Lennox, Tea Area High School, son of Lee and Kristen Daggett, also awarded a Christian Leadership scholarship

Kaitlin Gay, Rolling Prairie, Ind., New Prairie High School, daughter of Joel and Eloise Gay, also awarded an extracurricular scholarship

Ella Griffin, Dell Rapids, Dell Rapids St. Mary Catholic School, daughter of Jason and Kinsey Griffin, also awarded an extracurricular scholarship

Kyra Gropper, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, daughter of Clayton and Jennifer Gropper, also awarded and extracurricular and a dual credit scholarship

Gabi Micheel, Sioux Falls, daughter of Brad and Natalie Micheel

Andrew Simon, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Mounds View High School, son of Jacquie and Chris Simon, also awarded an extracurricular scholarship

Abby Wyly, Ft. Pierre, Stanley County High School, daughter of Kyle and Anita Wyly

Trustee Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Trustee Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA.

Hunter Abraham, Garretson, Garretson High School, son of Scott and Heather Abraham

Zoey Bartmann, Montrose, Montrose High School, daughter of Jaimie and Joe Bartmann

Ava Dewaard, Armour, Armour High School, daughter of Kasey Dewaard and Matt Dewaard

Tanner Hoemann, St. Paul, Minn., Mounds View High School, son of Steve and Michelle Hoemann, also awarded an extracurricular scholarship

Quade Parker, Custer, Custer High School, son of Ken and Nicole Parker, also awarded additional scholarships

Jayli Rients, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, daughter of Chad and Heidi Rients, also awarded an extracurricular scholarship

Dylan Soulek, Mitchell, Mitchell High School, son of Dave and Kari Soulek

Cali Turigliatto, Vancouver, Wash., Prairie High School, daughter of Adam and Amanda Turigliatto

Presidential Scholarship winners: To qualify for a Presidential Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Taryn Lentsch, Parkston, Parkston High School, daughter of Renee and Chad Lentsch, also awarded additional scholarships

Braeden Wulf, Lennox, Lennox High School, son of Chad and Kelly Wulf
