The Planning & Zoning Commission is responsible for the Comprehensive Plan and the physical development of the City, including areas outside the boundaries of the City and within the Joint Jurisdictional Zoning Area. The Planning & Zoning Commission reviews and comments on all plans, plats, or re-plats of subdivisions or re-subdivisions of land embraced in the City and platting jurisdiction area, laid out in lots or plats with the streets, alleys, or other portions of the same intended to be dedicated to the public. In addition, the Planning & Zoning Commission accepts and makes decisions on all conditional uses identified in the City's Zoning Ordinance.
The City of Vermillion has on vacancy, due to resignation, on the Planning & Zoning Commission. The term of appointment expires in June 2027. To be eligible, an individual must be a resident of Vermillion. Expression of Interest forms are due by Thursday, March 16; it is anticipated that the City Council will make an appointment at their March 20, 2023 meeting.
