South Dakota men’s basketball head coach Eric Peterson announced on Apr. 15 the addition of Tyler Netolicky to the team’s roster for the 2026-27 season. Netolicky is transferring from Kirkwood Community College and is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he attended Xavier High School.
The recruitment of Netolicky brings a player with experience at both the high school and junior college levels to South Dakota’s program. His past performance suggests he could be an important contributor in upcoming seasons.
Netolicky played in 48 games, starting in 14, during his two years with Kirkwood Community College. The forward averaged a double-double over his last season, posting averages of 12 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 62 percent from the field. Notably, he scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds against NIACC and set a career-high with 17 rebounds against Marshalltown Community College as a freshman. He also played a role in helping Kirkwood win an NJCAA Division II National Championship during his first year, contributing eight points and five rebounds off the bench in the title game.
At Xavier High School, Netolicky averaged 13 points and eleven rebounds per game as a senior while shooting nearly fifty-eight percent from the floor. He was recognized as an All-Mississippi Valley honoree for his performance with the Saints.
Peterson said that adding players like Netolicky helps strengthen South Dakota’s lineup for future seasons.
